About Genre Explorer

Genre Explorer is a living map of electronic music. It traces how disco became house, how house became techno, and how the signal kept splitting from there into garage, jungle, dubstep, trance, and dozens of scenes beyond. Every genre page covers the history, the sound, and the key tracks, and every claim is sourced.

We built it because the map we loved went dark. Every Noise at Once, Glenn McDonald's legendary genre map, stopped updating in 2023 and remains frozen in time. Genre Explorer is narrower on purpose: electronic music only, curated by people who teach it, and continuously maintained. Where Every Noise mapped everything at once, we map one family of music in depth.
